Hosting and Web Care
Hosting provides room for your web
This usually also includes e-mail options, such as the ability to receive e-mail from yourname@yourcompany.com but it does not include modem dial-up. Hosting is more expensive than domain registration, typically around $250 per year, but less expensive than web design and development costs. There is very little profit in hosting, therefore you should look for quality and reliability, as low cost hosts generally provide inadequate service.
Earthfire® can provide you with high quality full virtual hosting, as well as more affordable options. We can also design and maintain your web on an existing host, or move your site to another host. The three areas domain registration, hosting, and web design are separate, but your web is best when all three are working properly!
Full virtual hosting provides a separate IP address.
This is the best arrangement, yet many resellers buy web space in quantity for a few dollars a month per hosted
domain, sometimes less. They resell space for over $35 per month.
If in that situation you even have access to a CGI bin for running scripts, you must sometimes
share that with everyone else. So you have to be careful how you name
your script files, so they don't get tangled up with other people's script.
Same way with e-mail. It can get tangled. There is really no
limit how many people they can put on the same IP address. Bandwidth
is shared, so the host can guess at some people not using their full allotment,
and maybe resell a few more cyberstalls. Earthfire® can provide you with inexpensive partial virtual hosting, but we recommend you have us set you up with full virtual hosting which solves those problems.
Other web care options are included within your hosting.
Access logs, page counters, and periodic page evaluation are things we do to keep you going, and most of these we just provide you the handy tools. If we design your site, we also include minimal maintenance for the first year, which includes text corrections, and HTML validation.
